| Want to help pets, but don’t know where to start or don’t have room in your home to take on another pet?
Consider volunteering. For every species or breed of pet you can name, there is a rescue group or shelter trying to help. The best way to start is to consider how you would like to help: Are you a good fundraiser? How about using your public relations skills to promote homeless pets? Are you skilled at caring for kittens? Consider fostering.
Let your local shelter or rescue group know that you would like to get involved and share your skills with them. Even if you aren’t sure where to get started, they can help you narrow down the areas that most need help.
There are plenty of ways to help animals without actually adding another to your family. By aligning with a volunteer group or shelter, you can share your talents, and help pets in need. If you are short on time, consider perusing your shelter's wishlist. You may find that you have items in your home already, such as old comforters, and towels or a dog bed that was never used that could benefit a pooch waiting for a new home.
