| VALPARAISO | Window air multiplier fan units were being installed Monday morning around the Porter County Dog shelter following an outcry over hot temperatures in a very room housing 85 cats.
The sounding a burglar alarm was Porter County Council President Dan Whitten, D-at-large, who said he visited the dwelling Sunday after receiving complaints.
It has been ungodly hot, he explained.
Someone had soaked wash pads with water and placed them within the cages in an attempt to cool down the cats, Whitten said.
Whitten said he nearly filed a police report with the countys animal control officers would remove cats by a home through the same condition.
Instead, Whitten said he returned Monday morning, when he was reassured by County Commission President John Evans, R-North, that dyson air multiplier fan were on the way.
Porter County Commissioner Nancy Adams, R-Center, who was on site Monday as being the units were being installed, said the cats were gone after the newly installed room without air multiplier fan about 5 days ago.
Fans were definitely used to cool the space together with the heat just didn't are a problem until Sunday, she said. The temperature wouldn't cause any deaths on the list of cats, who live in cages stacked upon one other, she said.
Adams said it were definitely difficult finding air multiplier fan this late while in the season, and also the units could not be secured until Monday. The family room was noticeably cooler Monday.
Everyone in the room you want is not served by heat, but Adams said the county looks at installing a more substantial heating and dyson air multiplier price system for the building next month.
Whitten planned to mail out directions Monday to his fellow council members and also three commissioners in an effort to find out who is responsible for putting the cats within the conditions that he identified as criminal. |
